Abstract/Contents: | Reports that artificial turf will be the playing surface for the bowling competition of the 1998 Commonwealth games in Malaysia. Due to the heavy rains that frequently pelt Malaysia, the World Bowls Board brought together the New Zealand Turf Culture Institute and the British firm Sports and Landscape Development to produce a standard artificial green good enough for use in Commonwealth Games competition. "It is expected that the new standard will enable the production of a uniform quality of green worldwide, something that will not be possible on natural turf surfaces." |
