Abstract/Contents: | Article supports and defends the use of performance standards to determine acceptable surfaces for sports turf. Discusses the seven criteria that affect sports turf performance: ball roll, ball bounce, traction, hardness, evenness, infiltration, and gradient. The author asserts that construction standards are not enough, but that sports surfaces should be judged on performance characteristics. |
