Abstract/Contents: | "The Parks and Gardens Department of Great Lakes Shire Council took a bold move in 1991 to embark on a program of surface improvement for their touch football, junior and senior league, netball, soccer and cricket playing fields. The fruits of their labour are just now being realised and are described herein." Discusses the problems with the playing fields, including fungal diseases and unstable sand. Details the improvement plan and implementation of the surface improvement project. "The new fields came into play during 1993 with positive feedback from the players and spectators. At the same time, the existing kikuyu fields had been vastly improved through Geoff's management techniques, regular nutrient testing and the implementaion of a weed control program." |
