Abstract/Contents: | "In early spring all plots were split and sprayed with round-up to see if poa would still emerge during the cool spring weather. A one pint rate/acre of round-up was used. Treatments were then made as pre emergence. Two other splits were made for spring post/fall and fall only treatments. the round-up application cleaned up the poa and no poa re-emerged. All spring pre treatments had no post-emergence effect. The plots that looked the best for poa control in the spring of 91, were those splits treated with round-up first. Color and quality were high through the summer of 91. Fall pre applications of pennant were better with the granuale formulation. These treatments were giving less than 10% in poa cover. The fall control plot had 32% poa cover. The E.C. formulation of pennant was just significant in control of poa for fall pre-emergent treatments. The best application for pennant to control poa would be a fall pre-emergent treatment with the granular formulation." |
