| Abstract/Contents: | "The experiments for control of typhula blight (gray snow mold) were performed on predominantly Kentucky bluegrass fairways at the Breckenridge Golf Course, Breckenridge, CO (elev. 9,300 ft) and Vail Golf Course, Vail, CO (elev. 8,000 ft) where snow molds are a recurrent problem. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Individual plots measured 5 ft x 5 ft. Fungicides were applied on 5 Oct 93 (Breckenridge) and 21 Oct 93 (Vail). A CO²-powered plot sprayer equipped with 8003 Tee-jet nozzles delivered the fungicides at 30 psi. All fungicides were applied in the equivalent of 3 gal water/1000 sq ft. The fungicide effectiveness was evaluated following snowmelt on 5 May and again on 17 May 94 at Breckenridge, and 14 Apr 94 at Vail. Prostar 70 WG + Banner EC gave the best control for all evaluations at both sites. Prostar alone gave good control at Breckenridge, but not at Vail. Broadway (both rates) gave good control at both sites. Calo-chlor WP gave good protection as reported previously." Results including treatment and rate and location are given in table form. |
