Abstract/Contents:"Certain measures to treat moss and turf were tested over a period of two years on two different sites. The results were as follows: Cloroxuron and Iron-II-Sulphate proved to be well suited to control moss. It appeared that, depending on weather conditions, cloroxuron, which must be very accurately administered in doses, may damage the sward. Iron-II-Sulphate can be applied more easily and more securely. With extensive moss infestation a treatment is recommended in spring and in late summer, applying 25g in 1000m3 water/m2. But this procedure should not be carried out more than twice. The application of multiflora complete fertilizer for turf, including a moss stopper, brought unsatisfactory results with regard to moss infestation. The results proved no better than when a simple nitrogen fertilizer had been applied. Moss cannot be controlled by an aerification of the soil. Neither was the effect of Chloroxuron and Iron-II-Sulphate improved by this measure. When very intense aeration measures were carried out, the sward was damaged. One experiment showed an increased population of dandelions."
