Abstract/Contents:Details research into the control and prevention of white grubs and cutworms in turfgrass. Findings suggest that soil moisture was the most important factor to consider when determining abundance of white grubs - levels were 2-to 4- fold higher in irrigated plots tested. One positive discovery showed that the number of grubs required to cause noticeable injury was much higher than commonly thought by those in the industry. Cutworm larvae were found to be most active on greens from midnight until just before dawn. Indicates past methods of treatment which were successful and offers suggestions for more effective treatment of infested turfgrass.
