Abstract/Contents: | "The regular seed mixtures 'sports ground lawn A', 'sports ground lawn B', 'ordinary lawn', 'ornamental lawn', and 'lawn for playing grounds' were tested whether they are suitable for intensively clipped lawns which do not have to stand wear and tear. An evaluation of the bonitures for the visual appearance of colour intensity, uniformity of colour, density of sward and proportion of weeds revealed that the regular seed mixture 'ornamental lawn' proved to be the most unsuitable. The 'sports ground lawns' were classified into a much better group." DIN 18917 states that Agrostis and Festuca rubra are the best suited for the needs of an ornamental lawn, which this test proves to be incorrect. |
