| Abstract/Contents: | "In an experiment, carried out over a period of six years, the question was examined whether wide-spread plantations [Pflanzungen = plantings] of regularly cut shrubs can more easily be taken care of than comparable soil-covering perennials and shrubs. There was hardly any difference at the beginning of the experiment. Six years later, 4.12 minutes per year were spent in the form of care per square meter for the 15 species tested, i.e. the result was better than for most of the soil covering plants. Carpinus betulus, Spiraea vanhouttei, Ligistrum vulgare 'Atrovirens', Ribes alpinum 'Schmidt', and Lonicera nitida 'Elegant' proved to be particularily well suited for this upkeep system." |
