Abstract/Contents:Based on data taken from sports turf roots in soccer, rugby and cricket fields, as well as from sods and lawns, the compositions of the seed mixtures and the management are discussed. "There were correlations between the cutting heights and the covering rate of Lolium perenne and Poa annua respectively." The vegetation analysis demonstrated that it is advisable to include Pheum pratense in the mixture for establishing horse race tracks. The compositions of grasses used for cricket fields and golf greens showed no significant difference. Sods are very important for amenity purposes due to their high amounts of Lolium perenne as well as the little amounts of sand in them. Due to their cost, organic and synthetic/organic fertilizers are not often employed, mineral fertilizers are used almost exclusively.
