Abstract/Contents: | Reprints the results of a survey filled out by over 48,000 farmers first published in "The Fertilizer Review" from January, 1929, which dealt with their reasons for choosing a particular fertilizer. Although smell has nothing to do with a fertilizer's effectiveness, 26 out of 100 stated that odor was a significant factor in their choosing process. It is noted that nitrogen fertilizers tend to smell like sugar. Other myths of fertilizer color, size of bag etc. are similarly debunked. |
