Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the various reasons that lead to the necessity of renovating or reconstructing a golf green, factors that need be considered before, during and after the work has been performed, post renovation maintenance, as well as costs of the differing procedures for both materials and labor. Emphasis is given to the soil conditions, and their modification when necessary. The use of sod versus turf established by seeds or stolons is explored, as sod proves to be ready for play far sooner than seeds or stolons, even if its cost is greater. For that reason, the possibilities of establishing a sod nursery are investigated, along with its cost as well. |
