Abstract/Contents:In all cases studied, birds found digging into the turf were in search of some insect larvae for food. It is therefore not advised to kill the birds to prevent the damage that they render, but rather to discover the insect that is attracting them, and employ an insecticide to kill it off, and the bird damage will all but disappear. As the damage capable of being wrought by insects is far more severe than anything a bird is capable of, the insects should be the targets for control, and not the birds.
