Abstract/Contents: | Red fescue was sown at various spacings from 1 X 1 to 20 X 20 cm and morphological variations investigated at monthly intervals. With increasing spacing the number of leaves formed on the main stem before full stand density was obtained increased and the number of tillers formed increased. It was concluded that sowing rate and method were as important as sowing date and that earlier sowing allowed wider spacing. Implications on the application of N fertilizer were discussed. |
