Abstract/Contents:Tall fescue plots were established at the University of Arizona (October 28, 1988) with 65 varieties in all. Results were graded for seedling vigor, density, percent of living ground cover, bimonthly quality, leaf texture, chinchbug damage, grey leaf spot damage, and iron chlorosis on a one to nine scale with nine being the highest. Tables reported the top 10 highest and lowest scoring fescue varieties. Most varieties did well until high temperatures and humidity set in. Seedling rate was 4.4 lbs. of seed/1000 sq. feet. Fertilizers applied at different times included nitrogen, Tirmec, Oftanol, Fore, and Image while irrigation water was applied at a rate equal to 65% of the AZMET calculated turfgrass evapotranspiration rate.
