Abstract/Contents: | Discusses what soil compaction is and how it can be dealt with. Also includes characteristic features of compacted soil, methods of measuring soil compaction, causes of and conditions under which compaction occurs, and prevention methods. Treatment methods include the use of aerifiers and terferators and adequate fertilization. Reasons for compaction include trampling, wheel traffic and rolling of turf. Also covers the results of tests done to measure various turfgrass and soil runoff levels and the effect of fertilization amounts. |
