Abstract/Contents:After traditional chemical means of control have proven insufficient to eradicate dallisgrass, and as such means inevitably damage the existing turf surface, the author describes in considerable detail the search for and ultimate designing and construction of a dallisgrass cutter made out of a vertical mower modified for use on fairways. The composition of the components, along with their size and design comprises a considerable part of the article. It is reported that this device greatly reduces the clumps of dallisgrass on fairways, although a temporary browning of the turf occurs after use. This condition goes away after a few days though.
