| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the process of bent grass (Agrostis) seed certification in Oregon. Certification is conducted to protect against redtop seeds being passed off as bent grass seed. The certification includes both a field examination and an examination of the threshed and cleaned seed and sealing of the bags of seed. Certification is very rigid. Seeds pass certification if they do not contain more than one-half of one percent of other kinds of bent grass and no more than a slight trace of redtop. Seeds also must not be wet, hot, musty or otherwise out of condition. |
