| Abstract/Contents: | Seed of the red fescue cv. Jabeljska and Krusevacka 14 and of ecotypes from Kopaonik and Juzni Kucaj was germinated and grown in sand culture at 15-17 deg C. Seedling emergence began 7 days after sowing and lasted for 8-10 days; seed from Juzni Kucaj emerged fastest and that of named cv. slowest. Krusevacka 14 and the Kopaonik ecotype showed slightly faster seedling growth during the following 1.5 months, when Kopaonik had 31 tillers/plant, Jabeljska 30.4, Krasevacka 14 had 29.2 and Juzni Kucaj 23.1 tillers/plant. The cv. were leafier than the ecotypes but leaf development was not rapid in any of the material tested. Plant wt. 47 days after emergence was 1.02 g in Jabeljska, 0.96 g in Krusevacka 14, 0.8 g in Juzni Kucaj and 0.76 g in Kopaonik. |
