Abstract/Contents: | Reports that there are more courses under construction and in planning than at any other time in U. S. history. If planned courses open according to schedule, the number of courses will exceed the existing 1930 record of 5,856. There are currently (1959) 5,745 operating courses and over 300 under construction. Still, demand far exceeds the number of courses, and statistics show that all age groups are playing more golf than ever before. Par-3 courses continue to gain popularity as well. |
