| Abstract/Contents: | Essentially a follow up commentary of the article published in November of 1958 regarding damage of differing soles (see R=36745), it is stated that the experiments performed were not satisfactory, as the experiments conducted were only performed on one kind of turf, seaside bent at only one location, and most importantly, the test walkers did not execute turning motions such as those very commonly performed on putting surfaces. Furthermore, the presence of Poa annua on putting surfaces is commonly thought to contribute to some of the wear sustained by shoes, and this past experiment did not take that into consideration. More research needs to be done to answer the many lingering questions regarding the ripple sole shoes. |
