Abstract/Contents:There are multiple ways in which a course can collect the money required to undertake even the costliest of renovations. Proper planning and timing can greatly reduce costs. Short term loans, bonds, assessments, or a surcharge on the membership can all generate much of the funds required. In addition, the author draws attention to the revised Federal Excise Tax Technical Changes Act, which allows funds directed towards construction or reconstruction to be exempted from the 20% dues tax. Although this may prove to be a vast aid to clubs, caution is urged as mismanaging the tax laws can bring with them stiff fines.
