Abstract/Contents: | "Golf club properties are particularly vulnerable [to fire] due in many cases to their isolation, lack of water and lack of protection." Simple but often overlooked precautions can often save a club from destruction. Such steps as making sure there are sufficient ash trays and fire extinguishers, that paints are stored in a metal locker or storage unit, that kitchens are inspected regularly and that the stoves are well cleaned and ventilated are of paramount importance. Making arrangements for a water source to be located near the club in case of a fire, and making sure that it is accessible by a road are measures to consider, as is the installation of an automatic sprinkler system. |
