| Abstract/Contents: | "Application timing is critical for the desired performance of any preemergence herbicide as the herbicde must be in place and activated prior to weed seed emergence. Environmental requirements for specific weeds differ, therefore, making accurate prediction of when these weed seed[s] germinate and when to apply herbicides is difficult and confusing even to the professional turf manager. Early herbicide application helps ensure activation prior to weed emergence, but with short residual herbicides full season control may be reduced. The low solubility, high activity, and long residual properties of prodiamine (Barricade) herbicide along with flexible rates and sprayable and on-fertilizer formulations allow for more choices in application timings to ensure success. Single fall and/or spring, or sequential applications are options for full season weed control." |
