Abstract/Contents:"Ground and surface water protection is an important part of our responsiblity for maintaining environmental quality. Judicious and environmentaally responsible use of pesticides and fertilizers are essential components of our turf management system that provides the high quality golf turf the public has come to expect. Although turfgrass pesticides have not been shown to pose an environmental hazard, the average person is unfamiliar with turfgrass management and has a tendancy to associate golf pesticides with chemicals that have been found as environmental contaminants. An improved understanding by the public of the nature of turfgrass communities and the physical characteristics of turf pesticides can result in greater support for the golf course superintendent in his efforts to provide high quality golf turf."
