Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the benefits of using effluent water for irrigation purposes on golf courses when fresh water is in limited supply. Explores the use of effluent water as an alternative water source and mentions the ability of turfgrass to absorb excess nutrients or contamination. Lists three common problems of effluent water concerning turfgrass: salinity, the sodium adsorption ratio, and the variety of toxic elements which are commonly found in effluent water. "Reclaimed water is and will be available for many years to come. Rising costs found in our industry will lend to us the use of this by-product. This water is a valuable resource that has a sound future in our industry." |
