Abstract/Contents: | "In any profession you have to prove yourself to advance, and the golf course industry is no exception." According to the author's personal view, graduating turfgrass students should not be concentrating on attaining an assistant's position at a high profile club. Realisticly, students should concentrate on working their way "up the ladder," possibly even starting as a grounds crew member. "Regardless of one's education, experience is the one key every employer seeks. Superintendents will hire an experienced golf course worker over a non-experienced student. Assistants and superintendents are hired using the same criteria." |
