| Abstract/Contents: | "Turfgrass managers were more focused on new products, equipment and production standards in the 80's. Now they see environemtal issues as their greatest concern. A major cause of uncertainty over environmental regulations is the sheer number of laws, regulations, agencies and issues involved such as: the Revised Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Emergency Planning & Community Right to Know Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Pesticide Safety and Improvement Act (HR 3742), and the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA). While turf management professionals and companies continue to put the turf industry in the forefront of the movement toward a "clean and mean" society, they clearly need to be more involved in community outreach and in lobbying government." |
