| Abstract/Contents: | "California has mandated that all cities must compost yard trimmings in an effort to divert solid waste from landfills. The City of San Jose entered into a contract with Guadalupe Rubbish Disposal Co. to compost yard trimmings collected within the city. More than 200 plaintiffs have now brought suit against the City of San Jose and Guadalupe claiming that composting emits various toxic bioaerosols which cause just about every illness known to man." Discusses the fungus aspergillus fumigatus and debates the threat posed by composting. Discusses the monetary implications of composting law suits. |
