Abstract/Contents:"Each year, BioCycle editors contact managers of municipal wastewater treatment plants and composting operations, inquiring about current or planned projects, biosolids quality, compost markets, oder control methods and various other topics. Over the years, the questions have grown in number and complexity, with 1994 being the most comprehensive. The 1994 annual survey found that the level of knowledge and sophistication with regard to composting municipal biosolids continues to grow, with operating facilities providing an excellent base for new projects. The number of facilities using yard trimmings-primarily leaves and woody materials-has continued to grow. Another trend is the creation of mercant composting plants that are owned and operated by provate developers who contract with municipal generators for feedstock." Discusses the numbers presented in the survey, bulking materials, composting parameters, pathogens and vector attraction reduction, aeration and odor control, stong markets, and the development trend of biosolids composting.
