| Abstract/Contents: | "Approximately thirty percent of the materials deposited in California landfills are yard trimmings and food residuals that could be separately collected and processed into soil amendment products. To help develop the agricultural market for clean, separately collected organics and to demostrate the use of these materials in commercial agriculture, composted and uncomposted yard trimmings are being evaluated by California farmers in five locations through state funded demonstration program." Topics cover San Jose partnership, landspreading and on-farm composting, three county programs, breaking new ground in Montery Bay region, Vineyard soil improvement, and information sharing. |
