| Abstract/Contents: | "This study was designed to evaluated the performance of Vicksburg Chemical Company fertilizer products on Kentucky bluegrass turf. Evaluations of product performance were based on overall visual turf quality and weekly clipping yields. Fertilizer response trials were established on plots evaluated the previous year and on new plots to compare one year treatments to two year treatments... Touchdown Kentucky bluegrass established in 1982 on a Sharpsburg silty-clay loam soil was used for evaluation of fertilizer performance...Treatments were replicated 4 times in a randomized block design...The product K-Power had clipping yields below ammonium nitrate, but with comparable color and density. Yields for both fertilizers, quickly increased immediately following application, however, peak clipping yields were only maintained for 2 weeks and decreased for the remainder of the evaluation period. At approximately 35 days following application, Multicoat yields surpassed other treatments. Once Multicoat's nitrogen became available to the plant, it maintained the highest clipping yields for the remainder of the evaluation period. Visual quality ratings followed the same pattern as clipping yields. Quality ratings for the K-Power and ammonium nitrate treatments were the highest immediately following application. Ratings for the Multicoat treatments were the greater when the nitrogen became more available." |
