Abstract/Contents: | "Chemicals for control of Pythium blight were evaluated in laboratory and greenhouse tests after failure to establish a Pythium infestation in the field. Laboratory tests were carried out by seeding 'Medalist II' ryegrass on moistened filter paper disks in petri dishes. Upon germination of the seeds, a 2 mm dia. agar plug cut from a Pythium culture was inoculated into the center of each plate. After incubating overnight the plates were sprayed with the chmicals to be evalauted. Readings of disease severity were made 5 days later. Greenhouse evaluations were made in 12 x 18 inch flats of 'Medalist II' ryegrass with spray applications being evaluated on both a preventive and therapeutic basis. Control was achieved with Form-a-Turf Terrazole, Nurelle and Dexon." |
