Abstract/Contents:"Fungicide treatments were evaluated on an experimental bentgrass green at the Turf Field Center, NCSU, Raleigh, NC. The plots received conventional golf course management and were maintained at a 0.25 in height. The soil was a native Cecil clay loam (ph ~ 6.5). A 16-4-8 fertilizer was applied twice during the Fall and once in the Spring at a rate of 1 lb of N/1000 ftâ‚‚. The turf was treated with a half-rate (1.3 lb/1000 ftâ‚‚) of Scotts Goosegrass/Crabgrass control 6.46G herbicide in the Spring. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications of plots 5 ft by 5 ft. All treatments were applied with a 12 volt diaphragm pump sprayer at 40 psi using 8004 VP flat-fan Teejet nozzles at a rate of 2.5 gal/1000ftâ‚‚. Air temperature on days of application averaged 83 F and soil temperature averaged 80 F. Treatments were initiated on 7 Jun and repeated 13 days later. Turf color, overall turf quality, and % dollar spot were rated periodically. Dry, warm weather conditions limited development of dollar spot. Most products provided good control of dollar spot. Penncozeb 75DF at 6 oz, Maneb 75DF at 6 oz, and the mixture of Aliette 80WG at 4 oz plus Fore 80WP at 8 oz, with and without 0.1 lb N, did not provide control compared to the control treatments. Sentinel was applied at a much higher rate than suggested but treated plots had a high turf quality and did not show any phytotoxicity."
