| Abstract/Contents: | "This evaluation was conducted at the Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, University Park, PA, on creeping bentgrass maintained under golf course greens management conditions, at 0.25 inch cutting height. The test area was fertilized on 4 May with 1.0 lb nitrogen per 1000 sq ft (Scotts 29-0-0). Individual plots, 3 ft x 12 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments were applied with a CO²-powered boom sprayer, using TeeJet 8004 nozzles, at 35 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. Applications were made on 9 and 22 Jun, 6 and 20 Jul, and 2 and 16 Aug, except as noted in the table. The experimental area was inoculated on 12 Jun, three days after the first treatment application, by hand-scattering S. homoeocarpa-infected rye grain, at a density of 20-30 grains per sq ft, over the entire test area. Dollar spot was evaluated on 20 Jun, 5 and 28 Jul, and 30 Aug. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Duncan's Multiple Range test. Data from 28 Jul and 30 Aug are presented. The majority of the chemicals tested provided excellent control of dollar spot, including the ten reduced-rate mixtures. These mixtures, plus individual mixture components at reduced rates, appear in the results table in bold italics, preceded by an asterisk (*). Phytotoxicity was not noted throughout the trial on plots treated with Sentinel." |
