Abstract/Contents:"Many municipalities and private companies have developed composting programs that are now producing a significant quantity of compost. In addition, Missouri sawmills produce approximately 300,000 tons of sawdust annually, much of which is stockpiled for lack of a market. This could be compsoted with animal manures, possibly providing an excellent, large scale source of organic matter for horticultural uses. Several projects are underway to evaluate the potential for large scale horticultural utilizaiton of compsoted materials." Topics discussed include: speeding up turf establishment with yard waste compost, co-composting of yard waste and recycled paper, and sawdust utilization.
