Abstract/Contents: | "A grass composting project was initiated in September, 1994 to demonstrate that organic residues from golf courses could be recycled during the growing season on site without odour problems by using a biofilter...The most telling evidence that composting odours can be controlled was the fact that the composting was conducted next to the rear entrance of the Land Science building without complaints of odour. The procedure of exhausting the air through a biofilter during the active composting process reduces the odour to the extent that composting can take place in close proximity to a building. This initial trial illustrates that composting of organics on the premises of a golf course is feasible." |
