Abstract/Contents: | Reports the progress of two research projects. 1. The research to identify aluminum tolerance in tall fescue and bermudagrass. "To screen turf varieties for aluminum tolerance, we are having a very special growth system built by York Custom Design. The system permits us to precisely control the rootzone environment, maintaining constant pH and aluminum levels around the roots." 2. Nitrogen dynamics in a turfgrass system. "We are interested in determining the rates at which nitrogen moves from one pool to another in the soil, how quickly it changes forms and what happens to it in the long run. Why is this important?" |
