| Abstract/Contents: | First in a series of articles which will cover insecticidal issues such as general properties, environmental issues and the best management practices for insect pest problems. Discusses reasonable expectations of insecticides and the reason why insecticides appear to fail. Offers a historical perspective of insecticides and pesticides and also discusses the accurate diagnosis of insect problems, the choice of material, the timing of application, the rate of application, the use of water, and the movement and breakdown of insecticides. Emphasizes importance of maintaining realistic expectations when using insecticides and accurately diagnosing and correcting the problem. |
