| Abstract/Contents: | "The first Czechoslovak turf symposium at Nymburk in 1969 showed the work done until then in research on, and construction of, turf areas in the CSSR. At the time it was a stimulus to further scientific research work. At present the turf areas include 4517 official football pitches, 8 special rugby pitches, 15 hockey pitches, 8 golf courses, more than 1000 multi-purpose training areas, 1535 school playing fields, etc. Altogether there are more than 7230 turf sports areas. Especially remarkable is the advance in breeding grasses for turf: three new cultivars for turf have been approved." |
