| Abstract/Contents: | "The present status and likely future development of golf in Austria are discussed. Guidelines for design and construction of a golf course are reviewed, particularly the need to blend the course into its natural surroundings and the criteria for construction which will allow play all the year round. The greens are the essential parts of a course: their layout and construction, grasses, maintenance and diseases are described in detail. Finally, the future of golf in the German-speaking countries is examined by comparison with countries such as the U.S.A. where the sport is highly developed." |
