Abstract/Contents:Discusses the increasing problem of mosses on putting greens. Low mowing heights, reduced fertility and chemically unbalanced soil mixes contribute to moss infestation. It is difficult to find dependable control measures that do not damage the turfgrass, but this research suggests that spring and fall applications of ammonium sulfate and ferrous sulfate can suppress moss growth. Gives a history and life cycle for mosses, information regarding moss adaptation, and results from 1993-1994, and 1995 control studies.
