Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the new artificial turf par-3 course Fore-U, built by Pete and Mark Johnson. Describes the process in which and reasons that artificial turf was selected, and how the artificial turf was installed. The construction of an artificial green starts with a base preparation and grading, similar to that of a natural green. A layer of ground-up rubber is installed, and then comes the last layer- a shock-absorbent underpad. The greens also have a sand topdressing. The Johnsons' course will open this fall. |
