Abstract/Contents: | In 1996, significant quantities of grass were entering the waste stream in Chicago. In the state of Illinois yard trimmings were banded from landfills. Chicago had a "blue bag" system whereas recyclables and yard trimmings were collected in the same truck. Many residents did not bother to place their grasses in the proper bags. |
