| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses land use and legislation concerning golf course construction in Oregon and South Carolina. Many conservation laws were passed in Oregon in the 1970's, severely limiting areas that are available for golf course construction. In South Carolina, the issue is wetlands. In order to start construction on a golf course, a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers is required. Developers say that this issue has become a political one, started by environmentalists. |
