Abstract/Contents: | "The numbers are in for the 1996 BioCycle biosolids composting survey and as has been the case for a number of years, they reflect steady growth. There are a total of 38 projects in 1996, up from 330 in 1995. The total includes projects in operation, construction, permitted, planning/design/permitting/bidding, consideration, pilot stage and temporarily closed. There are 250 operating facilities (22 more than 1995) and six projects in construction. States with the greatest number of projects include New York (38), California (23), Washington (18), Massachusetts (17) and Maine (15). Colorado, Texas and Utah each have 13." Subtopics include; project analysis, bulking materials, odor control, marketing process, and compost operator challenges. |
