Abstract/Contents:"A considerable number of experiments was carried out to test a considerable number of grass varieties with regard to their pushing capacity and their perserverance. Depending on site, use and management, all the varieties tested diminished as far as their proportion was concerned. The varieties reacted differently. The early varieties of Lolium perenne are less perennial than the later varieties. As far as the other varieties are concerned, the yearly or bi-annual variety test concerning the perserverance of the individual varieties is not sufficient. Efforts should be made to test them every 5 or 6 years but this is at present not possible for financial reasons. Several varieties of every species should therefore be used in resowing or reseeding procedures to minimize the risk."
