Abstract/Contents:"Winter broadleaf weeds are a major problem throughout the South where mild temperatures occur. These weeds, including clover, chickweed, henbit, dandelion and burweed, are particularly troublesome in early spring when warm season turfgrasses are dormant. Not only are these weeds unsightly, but they increase mowing requirements and compete with desirable grasses for sunlight, water and nutrients. Controlling broadleaf weeds with chemicals in the winter and early spring helps grasses develop a dense, uniform turf that resists invasion by summer weeds. Weed control also helps to reduce mowing in the early spring and to improve the appearance of lawns, golf courses and other turfgrasses." Also includes table.
