Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the algae growth problem associated with ponds. Describes the different zones in a pond, the temperature stratification of these different layers, the dangers of over-fertilization, the importance of oxygen to the life of the pond, and the contribution that algae makes to oxygen production. Signs that a pond has poor water quality are the very quick growth of algae, odor problems, and insect problems. Relates the various types of aeration that can be performed in order to insure better water quality. |
