Abstract/Contents: | "China is an important, growing market in forage and turfgrass seed, fueled by agricultural policy changes and the country's concern for the environment, respectively. The increased affluence of the country's citizens plays a part as well. The Chinese turfgrass market has always been very small, although there has been a rapid increase in the past few years. Apart from the local Zoysia species, most of the country's turf seed has been imported. China lacks a turfgrass production infrastructure and has little experience in breeding turfgrasses. Currently, there are more that 500 companies involved in the Chinese industry." |
